Our classes are held in Midrand, which sits between Johannesburg and Pretoria, so seekers from Sandton, Centurion, Pretoria and the wider Gauteng can reach us. The introductory lectures are free. The weekly classes that follow are run on donations.

Why we teach from one venue
We are a small volunteer group, and rather than spread ourselves across several rented rooms we keep one good room in Midrand and put everything into it. Students travel in from across the province for the same reason a settled group is worth the trip: the same faces each week, a class that builds on the one before, and teachers who get to know you. For you it means one trip a week, on a fixed evening, to a group that will still be there next month.
Midrand also happens to be the fairest meeting point. It sits between Johannesburg and Pretoria on the Gautrain line, so nobody on either side of the province has to cross the whole of it to get here.

Where students come from
Most of our students live in one of four bands. Midrand itself and its neighbouring suburbs, Halfway House, Noordwyk, Carlswald, Kyalami and Waterfall, are the closest, and people from that side usually drive across in under fifteen minutes. From Sandton, Sunninghill and the northern suburbs of Johannesburg the usual route is up the N1 or M1 and then east towards Rabie Ridge, or the Gautrain to Midrand station and a taxi from there. From Centurion and Pretoria you come south on the N1 and then east, or take the Gautrain, which stops at Midrand between Centurion and Marlboro. From Tembisa and Rabie Ridge itself the venue is local, and students arrive by minibus taxi or on foot.

Getting there by Gautrain and taxi
The community centre is in Rabie Ridge, on the eastern side of Midrand next to Tembisa. It is easiest to reach by car or minibus taxi, and there is parking at the centre. If you are coming by Gautrain, get off at Midrand station and take a taxi or a lift from there, it is a short trip by road.
Because the venue is a council hall rather than our own building, we do not publish it as a postal address. Search for it by the venue name and street, and if you are unsure, WhatsApp us before you set off and we will send directions.

What we teach
Each week pairs one subject with a practice you take home, and the pages below explain the main ones. We run meditation classes in Midrand that teach stillness as a way of knowing yourself rather than only a way to relax. We teach astral projection and dream yoga, which means learning to stay conscious as the body sleeps. The heart of the course is self-knowledge and the psychology of the ego, the practical study of the many small selves that run us automatically.
